This site claims to be the largest automotive directory on the Internet with over 7000 Web sites catalogued - over 1500 of which deal directly with the upkeep of your car. Car Sound - There appears to be an enoumous fund of information packed into this site, which is an electronic version of the print magazine of the same name. There's a directory of dealers and installers around the country and a Q&A that seems to go on forever. Car-Stuff - Car-Stuff features some 1,000 auto parts and accessories sites in its over 3,000 Internet car and truck related links. Road & Track magazine recently said, "Car-Stuff is a huge site with thousands of links to all things automotive. Thankfully, they have categorized them all by topic." CarTrackers - Promotes consumer-friendly automobile buying practices and unwavering commitment to buyer education. They provide the tips, strategies, and detailed behind-the-scenes information needed to understand the automobile sales world online and off. By offering multiple sources to educate its customers, CarTrackers creates a level playing field. Nassau Tech - These people specialze in gizmos and programs to prevent car theft, and if it does happen to you they have another one that's guaranteed to recover it within 24 hours. Next Collection - This site offers accessories for SUV's and an assortment of dress-up items for certain Mercedes-Benz models. There's also a list of supplimentary lighting equipment for your car, most of which seem to come complete with mounting kits. Nippon Direct - This site offers discounted parts for all the major Japanese makes, plus VW and Audi. There's also a domestic section but it was still under construction when we last looked. Pepboys - Pep Boys say they stock thousands of tools, floor mats, car covers, waxes, polishes, hardware items, chemicals, motor oils, alarms, car phones, stereos, and much more for every driver's need. e Perelli - For decades Pirelli has been famous for the great style they have associated with their products and publicity, and this site reveals it once again. Radar Guys - This site not only offers an array of radar and laser detectors at discount prices, but there are sections here that tell you how these devices work - including the develish VASCAR. AutoVantage - This is an excellent site offering a wealth of automotive information to its users, but you have to be a member to avail yourself of all they have to offer.. A trial membership is just $1. It's worth a look. CarsEverything - Contains daily auto news, reviews, new and used car buying services and more. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety - Sponsored by a consortium of insurance companies, this organization seeks to improve highway safety. Want to know what the speed limit is in Montana? (Answer: There isn't one.) Or which states have helmet laws? Look for the answers here. You can actually get a quote online here but it requires you to fill out a long, pesky questionnaire. National Highway Traffic Safety Association - We must say we are somewhat reluctant to accept a gospel everything that NHTSA says, but there is some useful information to be found here. You might be interested in the table showing the incidence of theft from model to model. WomanMotorist - This is a very interesting site, sponsored by Oldsmobile, that attempts to address the interests and concerns of women drivers. There are some new car reviews, but the list of models is by no means complete. TiresAmerican Racing Custom Wheels - Over 40 years ago this company started out making lightweight wheels for racers. Today they are one of the largest wheel manufacturers in the world with seven factories and 2,500 employees. BBS Wheels - This is one of the world's most respected wheel builders. They supply cost- no-object equipment for serious racers from Formula 1 to Indycar, as well as aftermarket wheels for old Betsy out there in your driveway. Bridgestone/Firestone - This site was still under construction when we last looked in but it already has the appearance of a winner. You can actually access several major corporate sites from this page, along with more technical information that you probably need. CenterLine Wheels - This is one of the better known American wheel manufacturers with a wide array of models to choose from. They also carry a line of apparel - shirts, T-shirts, jackets, etc. All their retail locations, of which they have hundreds, are listed by state. Continental Tires - Continental is Germany's most prominent tire manufacturer with a dramatic history going back 125 years, so you'd expect that most cars made over there come with Continentals as standard equipment. They do. Discount Tire Direct - If you're in the market for wheels and tires this would be a good place to start because they carry a very large variety of both. Added to this they have suspension mods to lower your vehicle and improve its handling. DM Tech America - This company drescribes itself as a world-wide manufacturer of high performance one piece custom wheels, available in both chrome and silver painted styles in the specialty equipment aftermarket industry. Dunlop Tires - This site isn't very pretty but it does a good job of covering just about all you should want to know about tires, what goes into them, how to buy them and care for them. Euro Tire - This company carries an enormous array of shocks, wheels and tires, and they'll assemble, balance and ship to you on the next business day if you pay by plastic. General Tire - General Tire is now part of the big Continental Tire group based in Germany, but they do maintain a separate identity here in the US. Like Continental, General offers tires for contemporary cars but also for many models now long out of production. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. - This is a beautifully organized site, packed with all sorts of info about this giant company's operations, its history, indeed the history of rubber itself is here too. Investor relations are covered, and so is their blimp fleet. Michelin - This is a pretty site with a cheerful tone and lots of diverting and informative corners to explore. Of course there's a tire selector that can find you anything. National Tire and Wheel - This organization offers mostly accessories for customizing your truck, including body and suspension lifts made for your particular make and model. As their name suggests they also offer a variety of aftermarket wheels and tires. Tire Rack - There's not a thing that we can think of that should be added to this site. It has it all: An enormous variety of wheels and tire types, good prices and every imaginable kind of search function. Greatest Cars
