Danica Goes Green

According to her father, T.J., Danica was strongly considering going for the green of NASCAR's Nextel Cup, America's most popular racing series, but instead the star who breathed new life into IndyCar Racing over the past two years has gone green in a different way, signing with Andretti Green Racing for the 2007 season.  One has to wonder what kind of sensation Danica would have caused in the good old boy series of NASCAR, but, after toying with the idea of jumping into competition with Tony Stewart, Kurt Busch and Jeff Gordon she apparently decided that her left hook wasn't quite good enough. So she decided to stay with what she called her heart and soul and continue to pursue her dreams of winning the Indianapolis 500.

Joining Andretti Green might put her one step closer to achieving that ambition, though the Andretti's luck at the Brickyard has been notoriously bad.  Witness this past May for the most recent installment in that saga.  The father-and-son team of Michael and Marco Andretti each had a good chance to win the fabled race in the late going.  In fact, it seemed as if 19-year-old Marco had it in the bag when Sam Hornish swooped in to take the title.
