Lithium-Powered Vehicles to Hit New York

When you think of ecologically friendly vehicles, the first “green” you think about is not the olive green of military vehicles, but Hybrid Technologies, emerging as a leader in the development and marketing of lithium-powered products worldwide, is planning on displaying its innovative, military LiVTM Reaper equipped with an electronic-shifting differential at the upcoming New York International Auto Show. The show model will be fully loaded and armed with a 50-caliber gun and grenade launcher, just in case the crowds get too intense. It is said to be capable of speeds of 85 mph and has a driving a range of 185 miles.

Also included in the NYIAS lineup is the first public appearance of the LiVTM Bulldog. The electric vehicle can accommodate five passengers, and it is equipped with comfort items like tilt steering and conveniences like a three-position winch capable of heavy rear loading. The CVT transmission rated for 40 miles per hour and constant on-board 110V AC battery are among the unique performance features.

The typical consumer might be more comfortable with the new LiVTM Wise, a compact car with a driving range up to 120 miles. The emission-free vehicle is designed for urban driving situations. The new LiVTM Ryder, which will also be on display, is a custom-built lithium-battery-powered motorcycle. These aren’t vehicles of tomorrow either. Hybrid Technologies says, with completion of its proprietary designed battery-management systems (BMS), all of the vehicles to be featured at the 2008 New York auto show are now ready for market.
