Going Nitro-Propelled
If you're an extreme thrill seeker, you might be dying to experience the power and speed of vehicles powered by nitro fuel -- you know, the same stuff that keeps some of our hearts beating. The good news is that you can do this without sending yourself to bankruptcy court. Tiger, a division of Hasbro, has just introduced NITRO XRC, a new line of radio-controlled vehicles powered by nitro fuel. This fall, these "hobby-grade" nitro-fueled vehicles will bring their incredible speed, hot styling and the ability to perform mouth-dropping stunts to the mass market.
The technology used in the NITRO XRC (Extreme Radio Control) line allows them to achieve speeds up to three times faster than traditional battery-operated radio-controlled (RC) vehicles. The cars not only feature the speed, sound, and smell of a real working engine, but also offer the nitro fuel experience for a fraction of the investment of traditional hobby car counterparts. The vehicles are capable of speeds up to 25 mph, and they are said to be durable enough to handle stunts both on- and off-road. The cars also feature an innovative ignition system with electric starters and a unique fuel delivery system that is quick and easy to use.
"NITRO XRC's innovative vehicles bridge the gap that existed between retail store and hobby-grade radio control," said Bob Hastings, senior editor of RC Driver magazine. "The vehicles' fun, user-friendly performance and mass-market pricing make them a great value. Hasbro's NITRO XRC line will make the industry take notice, as I believe this will help bring a new generation of enthusiasts into our hobby."
The first NITRO XRC vehicles will be available at retail locations in October. They are expected to be priced between $130 and $180. Nitro fuel is sold separately.
